Our Freeze Dried Strawberries are produced in a process where moisture is removed from the product using a very low temperature and a vacuum. Only about 3 percent moisture remains in the product at the time of packaging. The end product weight is reduced by over 90 percent, while the volume stays the same. This remarkable process concentrates the fresh taste, natural color, and texture of strawberries.
When rehydrated, these strawberries will look, feel, smell, and even taste like fresh-picked strawberries again. The flavor remains locked-in and the nutritional value is preserved. Freeze drying keeps all the natural ingredients of the fruit without including any additional additives. Honeyville Freeze Dried Strawberries are an ideal product for long term food storage and emergency preparedness.
Shelf-Life: Freeze Dried Strawberries will store for 10 to 15 years in a sealed #10 can (oxygen absorber included) under ideal storage conditions (cool, dry place). Once opened, it has an average shelf life of 12 to 18 months.
Instructions: Add 3 parts water to 1 part strawberry. Allow Freeze Dried Strawberries to hydrate for about 20 minutes or until fully rehydrated. Honeyville Freeze Dried Strawberries can replace fresh prepared strawberries at a rate of 10 to 1. That means that each can of Freeze Dried Strawberries is the equivalent of about 3.75 pounds of fresh strawberries.
